Patrick has been a professional artist for 35 years. His recent paintings delve into a world where the viewer is met by ancient artifacts transformed into contemporary art – definitely outside the box with unusual textures and chemical reactions. Patrick’s innate curiosity has led to a lifelong quest for knowledge in the areas of art, history, mathematics and psychology (especially Carl Jung and his theory of the collective unconscious), through which he has come to believe that we are all connected and need to work together.
Patrick began painting as a child. By the age of 12, he was studying oil painting with a private tutor. He skipped his senior year in high school to attend Marymount Palos Verdes College on a scholarship. Additionally, his travels have taken him to Italy and throughout Europe, where he has continued his art studies. His reputation as an Old Master painter has led to many years of commissioned portraits, landscapes, sculptures, abstracts and murals. He is especially enthusiastic about mixing new paint technology with Old Master techniques. In his recent work he has taken ancient artifacts and included them in contemporary abstracts. To be a painter is to be a chemist. He has two extremes: his Old Master’s work and the abstracts he sets on fire. Patrick does performance art for fundraising events in which he uses a unique blend of paint, wax and sand which is then set ablaze. After 30 seconds and a 10-foot-high flame, a unique painting emerges with mysterious textures. His abstract paintings have been featured on HGTV. His paintings reside in art collections throughout the United States and Europe.
He enjoys sharing knowledge and teaching workshops in California, Portland, Oregon and throughout the United States.
